Grant was born in 1964 in Adelaide, Australia. Shortly thereafter, he moved to North Palmerston, New Zealand, where he was raised. A gifted athlete, Grant first excelled in soccer, playing as a member of the New Zealand Junior Soccer Team. At the age of 13, he was introduced to golf by his father, and quickly took to the game. He was a New Zealand Junior Champion, a two-time Australian Junior Champion and, based on his success in the junior ranks, was recruited by University of Oklahoma in 1983.
Grant attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated in 1987 with a degree in finance. While playing for the Sooners, he was a three-time All American and a two-time Academic All American. Success in his collegiate career empowered Grant with the confidence to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional golfer.
Grant turned pro in 1987 and secured his PGA Tour card two years later. He won the 1992 Trafalgar Capital Classic (Canadian Tour), the 1992 New Zealand Open (Australian Professional Golf Tour) and, in 1993, won at the Kemper Classic on the PGA Tour. After 20 years, Grant decided to leverage his experience as a professional golfer to coach others in their pursuits. He felt compelled to help golfers improve and enjoy the game by passing on what he had learned through his own life in golf.
Many consider Grant’s swing as an ideal. This is both a compliment and a testament to Grant’s dedication in applying sound principles that he has learned over the years. Having explored a broad range of theories and concepts surrounding golf swing mechanics, Grant is secure in his knowledge of what is valuable to a golfer, and what is not.
Grant aims to empower golfers to become their own best coach, eliminating the confusion, misconception and frustration surrounding the golf swing. Combining his professional playing experience with a solid understanding of ball flight laws, Grant’s instruction offers individual players at all levels a unique template to reach their maximum potential.
